Planet Dan is my personal blog. I set it up in 1999 but it was neglected for about five years (sorry) until earlier this summer. All views are my own, and photographs and content are all owned by me unless otherwise stated.
I’ve transferred over a lot of the old content (back before blogs were called blogs and just called home pages) so if you’re looking for:
- Wardle Family History – my family tree centres around Leicestershire and Kegworth in Derbyshire – sections of the family tree (and a little background info) are reproduced about
- The Fairey factory at Heaton Chapel (Stockport) – trying to find out what planes my grandad helped build during the second world war
- Killick Family History going back to the 1600′s – mostly centred around Whitehall in Cheam (Surrey).
If you have questions or want to try and establish a connection with your family tree please post a comment at the bottom of each post or email me and I’ll get my dad and/or my 2nd cousin David to answer. You can find an email address for me on Twitter (I’m also on LinkedIn).
After a bit of effort (and some luck) I found an answer for
- How did Ghost Hill get its name? (Ghost Hill in Taverham near Norwich)
This is me (in 1998).

Hi Dan,
I was doing a quick search about ghost hill on google and you website popped up pretty close to the top and it has some very interesting information in it. I’m not sure if you have every heard about geocaching (if not please visit http://www.geocaching.com) but I’m looking at placing a geocache on Ghost hill and was hoping you wouldn’t mind me linking into your website about how Ghost Hill got it’s name.
I’ll look forward to your reply.
